Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) said on Monday that he will oppose President Trump’s attorney general nominee, becoming the first Republican to come out as a “no” vote on William Barr.

Paul told Politico that he had concerns about Barr’s record on privacy, calling him a “chief advocate for warrantless surveillance of U.S. citizens.”

The article goes on to state the following:

A spokesman for Paul didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The libertarian-leaning GOP senator had previously raised concerns about Barr, who also served as attorney general to President George H.W. Bush.

I really respect Rand Paul. He makes a good case to me. Warrant surveillance is something all us Americans should be concerned about.

ditto – make him sign an affidavit that he will not promote warrant-less surveillance on the American people. President Trump needs to be careful as he did not like the fact that Obama had him wire tap surveillance during his run for president.

Rand Paul is correct. Barr needs to stay retired, he’s done enough.

Rand Paul is NOT a RINO. U who say this are misinformed! Ron Paul & Campaign for Liberty have also been warning for weeks about Barr’s record, including that on gun ownership. I think Trump can do better on his AG pic. Too many concern w/Wm Barr!
