The Supreme Court on Monday upheld Ohio’s “use it or lose it” practice of cleaning up its voter rolls.

In a 5-4 decision, the court’s majority said the practice, known as the “supplemental process,” does not violate the National Voter Registration Act, which bars states from removing the names of people from the voter rolls for failing to vote.

The court’s five conservative justices voted in the majority, with the court’s four liberals dissenting.

The article goes on to state the following:

Under the supplemental process, voters who have not voted in two years are flagged and sent a confirmation notice. Voters who then fail to respond to the notice and fail to vote within the next two years are removed from the rolls.

The process is one of two methods state officials use to identify voters who are no longer eligible to vote due to a change of residence.

The report quotes Justice Samuel Alito as he delivered the majority opinion:

“The notice in question here warns recipients that unless they take the simple and easy step of mailing back the pre-addressed, postage prepaid card — or take the equally easy step of updating their information online — their names may be removed from the voting rolls if they do not vote during the next four years,” he wrote. “It was Congress’s judgment that a reasonable person with an interest in voting is not likely to ignore notice of this sort.”

Liberals claim the law is just an attempt to prevent minorities from voting.

I’ve lived in Ohio all my life, and I’ve had to have my ID to vote. Heard Herman Cain say this morning that Ohio doesn’t need an ID to vote! Say what!?

I like how they’re all freaking out about the PURGE Lol. If people really cared they’d vote. One person tried the military excuse That person must be clueless. I was still able to vote when I was deployed. No excuse to not vote ever except laziness and being illegal. If you work 12hr shifts do a mail in

Lol Liberals have zero shame using minorities, in any insulting way, in order to push their pathetic & deviant agendas. Malicious Narcissists….. Gotta keep the pressure because they will not give up; not after the serious Narcissistic Injury of the Presidential election…..

In Wyoming, we must re-register if we move to a different county or if we fail to vote in the last general election. All States should do the same. http://soswy.state.wy.us/Elections/RegisteringToVote.aspx

Must prove citizenship to vote. Stop voter fraud. You are required to show a driver’s license to rent a car or check out a library book. Vote this November.

It is not hard to obtain an ID and it is not hard to respond to a notice mailed to you or to update your information. You need an ID to do just about anything so who doesn’t have one? In the absence of requiring an ID it is easier to cheat. We know the liberals are all about that. I don’t know any Republicans who want to suppress the vote. It is not unreasonable to require an ID.
