On Friday, President Donald Trump vetoed a resolution terminating his declaration of an emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border. Opponents of the move reacted swiftly

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.) responded in a pair of tweets, writing, “The House and Senate resoundingly rejected @realDonaldTrump’s lawless power grab, yet the President has chosen to continue to defy the Constitution, the Congress & the will of the American people. On March 26, the House will once again act to protect our Constitution and our democracy from the President’s emergency declaration by holding a vote to override his veto. #FakeEmergency.”

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) also tweeted a response, issuing a threat that they would fight the veto in court.   They tweeted, “The president’s veto is as meaningless as his signature on the emergency declaration. The courts will be the ultimate arbiter of the declaration’s legality. We will see him there.”

Many Democrats and pundits have issued statements condemning the veto. See examples below.

Congress has for years abdicated their responsibilities under the Constitution for years. All because they have no term limits and are afraid to make unpopular decisions. Any issue which might affect their re-election chances, they would rather push it to the executive branch. They gave the President this authority and now it’s coming back and bitting them in the arse.

They haven’t bothered to read the Constitution since it was written. They didn’t bitch about it when OBumbler used it. Why now? Because it’s TRUMP. No other reason. In actuality, it is the DemonRat power grab in Congress. Along with their Democrat’s Protectionist Act HR1.
Though not expressly worded in the Constitution, the Executive Branch does indeed have the right to use emergency powers IF Congress has granted such powers to the president. They DID (according to Wikipedia, Gerald Ford enacted it in 1976). Now that Trump has seen fit to use it (just like Barry), they’re whining it’s not Constitutional. Too late Dimbos.

Anything that the demorats don’t like they cry ‘thats unconstitutional’. The same rational that Waters uses when you disagree with her….’thats racist’. Same thing
