EXCLUSIVE: Touching moments and tributes from 9/11 ceremonies across the nation

SEPTEMBER 11, 2018

Tuesday morning somber ceremonies were held to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks, in which four commercial flights were hijacked by Islamic terrorists, resulting in the deaths of nearly 3,000 Americans.

One ceremony was held at the World Trade Center site where two planes flew into the Twin Towers. Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the Pentagon ceremony, where a third plane had crashed.

Speaking at a ceremony in Pennsylvania, where the fourth hijacked plane, United Airlines Flight #93, had crashed, President Trump said, “America’s future is not written by our enemies. America’s future is written by our heroes. As long as this monument stands, as long as this memorial endures, brave patriots will rise up in America’s hours of need, and they too will fight back.”

“Seventeen years ago, 40 incredible men and women showed the whole world that no force on earth will ever conquer the American spirit,” Trump said of the perished crew and passengers aboard Flight #93.

Below is a collection of photos and videos from various 9/11 ceremonies, as America paid tribute to the fallen and remembered the day that would have a lasting impact upon the nation.

Vice-President Mike Pence said at the Pentagon ceremony, “The terrorists who carried out these attacks sought not just to take the lives of our people and crumble buildings. They hoped to break our spirit – and they failed.”

A teacher in Tennessee posted a video of a student ceremony held Tuesday.
