Allow me to begin by saying I agree with every word written by the very upset mother from Arizona, Debbie Lee.   I hope you decide to support her by sharing this post.

As she states clearly in her open letter on Facebook,  Lee is the “Proud Mother of Marc Lee, First Navy SEAL killed in Iraq 8-2-06.”

In an open letter written earlier this week to Representative Cohen, she rips the Democrat lawmaker for suggesting the disgraced, Trump-hating FBI Agent Peter Strzok  should receive a Purple Heart accommodation for his recent, ten hours of testimony on Capital Hill.

Below is Lee’s full letter which she published using ALL CAPS.   Below the open letter, I’ve posted the final letter her son wrote while serving America proudly.   Again, I ask you to please read and share.

OPEN LETTER TO REP. COHEN

HOW DARE THIS MEMBER OF THE CONGRESS COMPARE THE 10 HOURS OF TESTIMONY THAT ARE CAUSED BY STRZOK’S OWN ACTIONS, LIES AND MANIPULATIONS OF HIS INVESTIGATIONS, TO WHAT OUR BRAVE WARRIORS ENDURE WHEN THEY ARE IN THE MIDST OF COMBAT. OUR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS HAVE BEEN SHOT, BLOWN UP AND MANY LIKE MARC, GAVE THEIR FINAL BREATH AND WERE POSTHUMOUSLY AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART. MANY OF OUR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS ARE MISSING LIMBS, CAN’T WALK, OR GIVE THEIR LOVED ONES A HUG. MANY WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO SPEAK AGAIN. I’M SURE THAT MARC WOULD HAVE LOVED TO TESTIFY FOR CONGRESS, OR WORK FOR THE FBI WHEN HE LEFT THE SEALs OR BE ABLE TO GO HOME AT NIGHT TO HIS FAMILY.

REP. STEVE COHEN, YOU ARE SHAMEFUL AND HAVE DISGRACED AND DISHONORED OUR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE REAL SACRIFICES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE. THEY PAID FOR YOU TO HAVE THE FREEDOM TO SAY YOUR UNEDUCATED, ABSURD, HURTFUL COMMENTS, BUT THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES TO YOUR WORDS. I TRUST THAT VOTERS IN TENN SEE THE REAL YOU AND THAT YOU ARE VOTED OUT. WOULDN’T THAT BE JUSTICE IF IT WAS A PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD COMPARE THE SACRIFICES OF OUR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS TO CONSEQUENCES SUFFERED WHILE SUPEONAED TO TESTIFY BEFORE CONGRESS FOR YOUR ACTIONS IN TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY?

THERE WAS NO BLOOD THAT WAS SHED IN THAT HEARING ROOM ON CAPITOL HILL YESTERDAY, NO LOSS OF LIFE. MR. COHEN, AS TO YOUR COMMENT FROM A FEW GOOD MEN, “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH”, YOU, SIR, CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH THAT YOU ARE IGNORANT WHEN IT COMES TO OUR MILITARY AND THE CONTRAST BETWEEN THOSE WHO WOULD SELFLESSLY SACRIFICE TO DEFEND US AND THOSE WHO WOULD DO WHATEVER ILLEGAL, IMMORAL THING THEY COULD TO DESTROY PRESIDENT TRUMP. EVEN IF IT MEANS DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY.

I DIDN’T LISTEN TO ALL OF THE TESTIMONY YESTERDAY BUT WONDERING DID PETER STRZOK CORRECT REP. COHEN WHEN HE COMPARED HIM TO OUR PURPLE HEART HEROES? AFTER ALL, HE DID SERVE IN THE MILITARY AND EVERY HONORABLE VETERAN I KNOW WOULD HAVE CONFRONTED THAT AND CORRECTED HIM.

TO OUR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THOSE WHO DIED IN COMBAT, I AM SO SORRY YOU HAVE HAD ADDITIONAL PAIN INFLICTED ON YOU FROM REP. COHEN FOR YOUR SACRIFICES. WE AT AMERICA’S MIGHTY WARRIORS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR YOU. IT’S IRONIC THAT I JUST SENT OUT AN EMAIL EARLIER THIS WEEK TO OUR PURPLE HEART RECIPIENTS AND GOLD STAR FAMILIES FOR A RETREAT WE ARE HOSTING ON SEPT 7 – 10 IN TEXAS. WE HOST THESE TO LET YOU KNOW WE WILL NEVER FORGET AND PROMISE TO LIVE LIVES WORTHY OF THEIR SACRIFICES. REP. COHEN, OUR ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN OUR WORDS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD COME TO THE RETREAT FOR 10 HOURS AND MEET THESE FAMILIES, HEAR THEIR HEROIC STORIES OF SACRIFICE AND WE WILL PUT YOU IN A CHAIR AND LET THEM QUESTION YOU AND SEE IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND AND WOULD PROFUSELY APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR PAIN INFLICTED COMMENTS.

ABOUT MARC LEE
Marc Alan Lee (March 20, 1978 – August 2, 2006), was a United States Navy SEAL. He was the first SEAL to lose his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom when he was killed in a fierce firefight while on patrol against insurgents in Ramadi. Lee was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple HeartOn March 20, 2013, the Marc A. Lee Training Center building was dedicated at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.

For his action on the battlefield, Lee was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart. His Silver Star citation reads:

“The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class Marc Alan Lee, United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy as Assaulter and Automatic Weapons Gunner in Sea, Air, Land Team THREE (SEAL-3), Naval Special Warfare Task Group Arabian Peninsula in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 2 August 2006. Petty Officer Lee conducted clearance operations in South-Central Ramadi as a member of a Naval Special Warfare Combat Advisory element for the Iraqi Army. During the operation, one element member was wounded by enemy fire.

The element completed the casualty evacuation, regrouped and returned onto the battlefield to continue the fight. Petty Officer Lee and his SEAL element maneuvered to assault an identified enemy position. He, his teammates, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Abrams tanks engaged enemy positions with suppressive fire. During the assault, his team came under heavy enemy fire from an adjacent building to the north. To protect the lives of his teammates, he fearlessly exposed himself to direct enemy fire by engaging the enemy with his machine gun and was mortally wounded in the engagement. His brave actions in the line of fire saved the lives of many of his teammates. Petty Officer Lee’s courageous leadership, operational skill, and selfless dedication to duty, reflected great credit upon him and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. Action Date: August 2, 2006.”

On the website operated by Debbie Lee, she posts her son’s final letter.  Read below:

Glory is something that some men chase and others find themselves stumbling upon, not expecting it to find them.  Either way it is a noble gesture that one finds bestowed upon them. My question is when does glory fade away and become a wrongful crusade, or an unjustified means by which consumes one completely?

I have seen war. I have seen death, the sorrow that encompasses your entire being as a man breathes his last. I can only pray and hope that none of you will ever have to experience some of these things I have seen and felt here.

I have felt fear and have felt adrenaline pump through my veins making me seem invincible. I will be honest and say that some of the things I have seen here are unjustified and uncalled for. However for the most part we are helping this country. It will take more years than most expect, but we will get Iraq to stand on its own feet.

Most of what I have seen here I will never really mention or speak of, only due to the nature of those involved. I have seen a man give his food to a hungry child and family. Today I saw a hospital that most of us would refuse to receive treatment from. The filth and smell would allow most of us to not be able to stand to enter, let alone get medicine from.  However you will be relieved to know that coalition forces have started to provide security for and supply medicine and equipment to help aid in the cause.

I have seen amazing things happen here; however I have seen the sad part of war too. I have seen the morals of a man who cares nothing of human life…I have seen hate towards a nation’s people who has never committed a wrong, except being born of a third world, ill educated and ignorant to western civilization. It is not everybody who feels this way only a select few but it brings questions to mind. Is it ok for one to consider themselves superior to another race?

Surprising we are not a stranger to this sort of attitude. Meaning that in our own country we discriminate against someone for what nationality they are, their education level, their social status. We distinguish our role models as multimillion dollar sports heroes or talented actors and actress who complain about not getting millions of dollars more then they are currently getting paid.

Our country is a great country, don’t get me wrong on this, otherwise none of us would be living there. My point of this is how can we come over here and help a less than fortunate country without holding contempt or hate towards them if we can’t do it in our country. I try to do my part over here, but the truth is over there, United States, I do nothing but take.

Ask yourself when was the last time you donated clothes that you hadn’t worn out. When was the last time you paid for a random stranger’s cup of coffee, meal or maybe even a tank of gas? When was the last time you helped a person with the groceries into or out of their car?

Think to yourself and wonder what it would feel like if when the bill for the meal came and you were told it was already paid for.

More random acts of kindness like this would change our country and our reputation as a country.

It is not unknown to most of us that the rest of the world looks at us with doubt towards our humanity and morals.

I am not here to preach or to say look at me, because I am just as at fault as the next person. I find that being here makes me realize the great country we have and the obligation we have to keep it that way.

The 4th has just come and gone and I received many emails thanking me for helping keep America great and free. I take no credit for the career path I have chosen; I can only give it to those of you who are reading this, because each one of you has contributed to me and who I am.

However what I do over here is only a small percent of what keeps our country great. I think the truth to our greatness is each other. Purity, morals and kindness, passed down to each generation through example. So to all my family and friends, do me a favor and pass on the kindness, the love, the precious gift of human life to each other so that when your
children come into contact with a great conflict that we are now faced with here in Iraq, that they are people of humanity, of pure motives, of compassion.

This is our real part to keep America free! HAPPY 4th Love Ya

Marc Lee

P.S. Half way through the deployment can’t wait to see all of your faces

Thank you Marc Lee for your service and your ultimate sacrifice. My condolences can NEVER make up for your loss or the loss of your family. I a wife of an US Marine, will join in the praise of your writing. Our Leaders in this Country have lost all that is decent, fair and civil. My heart aches for my children, grandchildren and those to come after. We need an awakening in this Country and our leaders need Boot camp Marine style to learn how to lead. May your voice be heard Ms. Lee.

Thank you for your beautiful letter. Rep Cohen is such an embarrassment in his total lack of knowledge in many matters of importance
