Bill de Blasio has demanded ‘consequences’ for a New York police union head after an incendiary tweet ‘declaring war’ on the mayor.

Sergeants Benevolent Association (SBA) president Ed Mullins launched an attack on de Blasio after an officer was shot inside a patrol van Saturday night and another outside a Bronx police station the following morning.

The article goes on to state the following:

The SBA has been angered by de Blasio’s limiting of stop-and-frisk powers, his plans to close the jail on Rikers Island and declaring New York a sanctuary city.

Mullins has been repeatedly calling out de Blasio over the attacks against NYPD officers, and the escalating crime in the city.  Even prior to the assassination attempts on the two NYPD officers over the weekend, the friction has been growing.

DeBlasio had criticized President Trump on Saturday, tweeting, “Every time @realDonaldTrump tells you the economy is doing well, ask yourself, “for who?” For his billionaire cabinet? They’re doing great. For the 1 percent? They LOVE it. For working families, though….”

Mullins hit back, “The economy seems to benefit you with low property taxes on your home, unaccounted 1.8 billion dollars for THRIVE NY, tax payer funds used for security on a Presidential campaign. A salary of $258,750 & Forbes reports your net worth at $2.5 million. Now ask yourself for who?”

Sunday night, Mullins tweeted his outrage over the attacks against the two NYPD officers, tweeting, “Tonight there has been another assassination attempt on a NYC police officer in the 41 PCT. Please pray this officer recovers and all members of the NYPD should remain vigilant. Scumbag perp has not been captured!”

Mullins added, “Police are being targeted. The anti cop tone infecting our city & state is causing bloodshed. Before any public official sends their thoughts & prayers, they should ask themselves how the language & behavior they’ve been tolerating has contributed to violence against police.”

President Trump had tweeted his outrage over the assaults, writing, “I grew up in New York City and, over many years, got to watch how GREAT NYC’s “Finest” are. Now, because of weak leadership at Governor & Mayor, stand away (water thrown at them) regulations, and lack of support, our wonderful NYC police are under assault. Stop this now!”

Mullins responded, casting the blame square on de Blasio. He tweeted, “President Trump is 100% correct. NYS & NYC need the support of the Department of Justice. Criminals are being released, it’s time we prosecute in Federal Court. The Mayor is ruining NYC, cops have been stopped from doing their jobs. NYC is under siege. Send in the Feds.”

De Blasio released the following statement on the attacks:

It was a quiet Sunday morning when bullets started flying inside the 41st Precinct. Our officers handled it with heroism and extraordinary skill, showing the true caliber of the men and women who serve in the NYPD. Thank God our officers are alive.

This was a premeditated assassination attempt against New York’s Finest. It was also an attack on ALL New Yorkers and everything we believe in. This MUST be a city where everyone can live in peace and respect. This individual attempted to destroy that. We will not let him win.

That’s when Mullins just lost it, declaring WAR!  He fired back at de Blasio, “Mayor DeBlasio, the members of the NYPD are declaring war on you! We do not respect you, DO NOT visit us in hospitals. You sold the NYPD to the vile creatures, the 1% who hate cops but vote for you. NYPD cops have been assassinated because of you. This isn’t over, Game on!”

While speaking to reporters on Monday about Mullins’ declaration of war, de Blasio said, “I have to say it’s sad when someone feels they can be openly divisive and get away with it. I think there should be consequences for that kind of speech.”

Mullins responded to the threat by tweeting, “Laughable! People can commit crimes, vandalize & not pay subway fares all without fear of arrest & he now supports the 1st amendment for everyone but cops? Consequences’ thanks but NO thanks. Ill pay for my own cellphone, subway fare & Mets tickets, while he supports criminals.”
