Fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ request to stay at the Justice Department until the end of the week was denied by White House chief of staff John Kelly, according to a report.

Kelly insisted that Sessions’ departure from DOJ had to be Wednesday, one day after the 2018 midterm elections, administration officials told CNN. Sessions reportedly never received a phone call from President Trump, instead speaking with Kelly.

The article goes on to state the following:

Sessions submitted his resignation letter to Kelly Wednesday afternoon following an earlier request from Trump. The president has publicly berated Sessions over his March 2017 decision to recuse himself from overseeing special counsel Robert Mueller’s federal Russia investigation. Sessions was advised to stand down from the supervisory role based on concerns he had been a surrogate for Trump during the 2016 campaign and had failed to disclose contacts with former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Well, I do not feel bad for Sessions. Any person of integrity in his position would have stepped down and not recused himself right at the beginning. He was stubborn. Think about it. Right in the beginning, he could have been straight with Trump and told him he would like a different position because of his need to recuse himself. He was approved by Senate so he could have switched to a different stop. At the time, and if he would have been straight with Trump, Trump would have appointed an AG that could have done the job and he would have respected Sessions, and Sessions would have a job in the WH.

Glad he is gone. He didn’t do much to earn that big pay check. He also did an injustice to Trump and the American people by recusing himself after he was confirmed. We wanted Hillary locked up and she has been roaming free for 2 years

    Humiliation? Wheeeeere.

I disagree with most here on this. As probably the most important political person to publicly support Trump early in his campaign, Sessions deserved at least a face to face.
Also think about the situation and how as a conservative you would feel if this was a liberal administration looking into itself? Had an investigation been overseen by Holder looking into Obama, no one would believe it wasn’t a partisan cover-up.
Sessions actually did Trump a plus by recusing himself. Trump will be cleared of the Russian nonsense, with no cloud of a whitewash.
Truth be told, Sessions is probably glad to be out.

Sessions has had several meetings with Trump, he was well aware of what was to come. Your comments on here are opinions not facts and we all know your can’t believe a thing CNN says, so chill. Sessions needed to go, stop stirring up more dirt!!

Sessions should be glad he wasn’t
Security police escorted out of his office as they freeze his computer and phones, that is the norm for federal employees that are fired
from office. At least he was given until Wednesday.
