Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Thursday said he would obey the law if he receives a written request from Congress to turn over President Donald Trump’s tax returns.

“I will consult with the legal department within Treasury, and I will comply with the law,” Mnuchin said when asked by Texas Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett on whether he would release the returns.

The article goes on to state the following:

Republicans, who have argued that Trump has the right to privacy, quickly made clear they believe any request from Democrats wouldn’t be lawful — opening up the possibility of an extended fight over whether Mnuchin will hand over the returns if a request is made.
“This is a violation of the law,” Republican Rep. Kevin Brady, the ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, said outside the hearing. “I believe Democrats are violating the law, and it sets a dangerous precedent.”

No, there is no law that states a President has to turn over his or her tax returns and if the democrats wants to make it a law then they should have to show their returns also because they are working for the people of the US just like our President.

Requesting does not mean the law will allow. Manuchin said he would follow the law after consultation. If against the law, he won’t release. What else could he say.
