REPORT: NBC’s Chuck Todd slammed by liberal stars, Ocasio-Cortez for knocking her ‘concentration camps’ remarks
As the most reliable and balanced news aggregation service on the internet, DML News App offers the following information published by FOXNEWS.COM:
MSNBC anchor Chuck Todd has been receiving strong condemnation from the left over his remarks slamming Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, for her repeated claim that the U.S. government is “running concentration camps” along the southern border.
The “Meet The Press” moderator condemned Ocasio-Cortez’s assertion, saying that the detention centers holding migrants and concentration camps are “not at all comparable in the slightest” and insisted that she was doing a “tremendous disservice” to migrants at the border by invoking the Holocaust.
The article goes on to state the following:
Todd, who serves as NBC News’ political director, sparked a ton of backlash on social media among progressives as well as from fellow liberal journalists. The Intercept columnist Mehdi Hasan” claimed that Todd’s argument “makes no sense” since he “conceded” that Ocasio-Cortez didn’t refer to “Nazi death camps.” Crooked Media’s editor-in-chief Brian Beutler called Todd’s monologue a “disgrace” and accused him “misinforming his viewers” for not mentioning the history of concentration camps that predate the Holocaust.

Ocasio-Cortez slammed back with the following tweet:
Well, @chucktodd – the fact that you slipped in “Nazi” when I never said that is pretty unfortunate.
Almost as unfortunate as the fact that you spent this whole time w/o discussing DHS freezers, “dog pounds,” missing children, & human rights abuses that uphold use of this term. https://t.co/1eNuW1ZR0f

This makes no sense – in one breath, Chuck Todd concedes that @AOC herself says she wasn’t referring to Nazi death camps, but in the next breath he condemns her for invoking “Nazi concentration camps” – which she didn’t. As he himself conceded only seconds earlier. Sigh. https://t.co/fkuC9uuvsn

It’s fine if @chucktodd didn’t know concentration camps predated the Holocaust and have been used in other atrocities since, but he *chose* not to look it up, and thus to misinform his viewers, so he could make a #bothsides point and burnish cred with @AOC critics. Really bad.

This is crazy—an all-too-frequent example of @chucktodd using his airtime to discuss a process story while side-stepping the core issue. Downplaying the atrocity of these camps to try and make a point (sort of) about semantics…really dude? https://t.co/FeYWt39Q9n

Obama’s former Ethics Director Walter Shaub also took a shot at Todd:
In the future, the history books — if there are history books — will have much to say about the people who did the normalizing. The phenomenon is notable not for its uniqueness to these times but for its similarity to other periods of darkness. The lessons have not been learned.
