About 20 percent of college students have weighed suicide, according to a study by researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Using data from the American College Health Association-National College Health Assessment, which surveys 67,000 undergraduate students from across the nation, the researchers also found that 1 in 4 students suffered from a mental health disorder in the prior year.

Cindy Liu, the lead author of the paper, said in an interview with the Boston Globe that “pressure to achieve” is one of the reasons for this trend. Liu applauds the destigmatization of mental health issues and the rise in mental health awareness on college campuses. But she fails to acknowledge one major factor.

The article goes on to state the following:

Students are forced into the “college track” because of the aforementioned pressure to achieve — pressure from their parents, teachers, counselors, and other mentors. Yet if there is one statistic that proves that college isn’t right for everyone, it’s that only 54.8 percent of students actually graduate. The rest drop out.

To make matters worse, many students are largely unprepared to face the stresses of college.

In an interview with the Boston Globe , professor Sarah Lipson of Boston University said she believes students today are less resilient. Millennials have long been called the “snowflake generation,” but this trend has continued through Generation Z.

That’s because all their liberal professors are always painting such a bleak picture of America.

If the students had grown up NOT getting their way, working 10-12 hours per day at hard work from age 10 and up, getting their behind spanked and being told “No” once in awhile they would be happier as adults. (Oh! Forgot! Government does not allow that)!

“”The pressure to succeed”” is a misnomer. And importantly to also note, this pressure is not generation specific! Students attend university because they possess – or the should possess – the ambition to excel! What they are are struggling with is that the leftist biased ineffective and inefficient pseudo-education that they are paying large bucks for discovering that the lessons they receive are insufficient to provide them with the skill sets, abilities, proficiencies or capacity to lead that they are promised and lied about by their leftist counselors, leftist/progressive instructors and their commie sympathizing administrators. When university and college admins realized that their campuses would receive the same or a greater amount of money to operate every term regardless of student success or failure, education went to the dogs. When you change the attitudes of our youth, you change the attitude of our country. That is not a schools privilege. That privilege belongs to parents not to vile, evil commie instructors. They can spew garbage all they wish, but your kids need better guidance. Few conservative professors exit on college campuses anymore – I retired in 2016 after 28 years. You parents have to reembrace your kids and their educations and teach them the art of sarcastic arguing/discussion techniques so they and their peers can watch weak willed not so bright lefty teachers implode when a few kids decide to think for themselves and deeply question biased curriculum. Arm your children with truth and confidence. They will succeed, find their niche and will not end up miserable like the kid pictured up at the top of this article. That poor boy was expecting to receive everything for free — life is not this way. Reignite your kids love for American governance and guiding principles. They can overcome the stench of left leaning college coursework.
    Good luck.
