“Empire” returned with Jussie Smollett for its midseason premiere on Wednesday, and fans went wild over his onscreen persona dealing with public drama as the actor in real life faces 16 felony counts for his alleged hate crime hoax.

On the episode, Smollett’s character, Jamal, had to end his engagement when his fiancé, Kai, couldn’t agree with his family’s illegal actions. Eventually, Jamal’s family became involved in some high-profile drama, which he had to address.

“I don’t know if y’all been reading the blogs and all the foolishness, but it’s kinda been a tough week,” Jamal said.

The article goes on to state the following:

Some viewers were uncomfortable watching Smollett on their TVs, even though the episode had been filmed a while ago.

“I’m sorry it’s so hard for me to look at jussie without wanting to slap the s–t outta him #Empire,” a viewer tweeted.

“I’m just ready to see them write off Jamal #Empire,” a fan tweeted, alongside a gif of a woman giving a glare.

“”it’s been a tough week” …hahaha more like a month so far, Jussie 😂#Empire,” another wrote.

Roseanne is tossed out like so much garbage for making a comment??? A person-a standup comedian -known for making off beat comments.
This jerk is charged with 16 felonies and yet what happens —nothing.
I am through with Hollywood – their movies, shows, music – they can all go to hell.
I already ditched the NBA and NFL, and I am really enjoying the free time. Don’t miss any of it.

Orin Black, I totally agree with you. And I too boycotted Hollywood, movies, TV, music and sports. The wicked and evil don’t deserve my attention, time, money or ratings. Zero, zilch, nada. Good riddance.

They should have cancelled any remaining shows with Jussie in them. They sure we’re quick to boot Roseanne! But the same didn’t apply to him. He falsely promoted a hate crime..he’s not a hero and needs to be accountable for his actions..which includes cancelling the show. Why did ppl even watch it, is beyond me!

You’re right on target. Rosie is white and a conservative, jussie is black and most likely a liberal.

What do you expect, he is a liberal and they cannot do any wrong.
Why wasn’t “Barr’ed” like a conservative would have been is just the way it is these days unless we raise our voices loud enough.

Just quit watching Network shows. So easy to do, and your mind will be free of their programming control over it. I haven’t been to a movie this century. I just gave up any support into the Hollywood/NY liars. And if you’re going to write to a station, always address it to the Production company’s. You can look up any Production Company’s current projects. If you let them know you will boycott a specific show include all of that Production company’s projects. Then you get their attention. That’s their entire business at risk, not just one show.
