Late Tuesday evening, President Donald J. Trump weighed in on one of the more important races of the evening, the Ohio Special Election for the 12th Congressional District, with a pair of tweets.

Tweet 1: When I decided to go to Ohio for Troy Balderson, he was down in early voting 64 to 36. That was not good. After my speech on Saturday night, there was a big turn for the better. Now Troy wins a great victory during a very tough time of the year for voting. He will win BIG in Nov.

Tweet 2: Congratulations to Troy Balderson on a great win in Ohio. A very special and important race!

Trump was referring to Troy Balderson, the Republican candidate in the race. At the time of Trump’s tweet, Troy was leading Democrat Danny O’Connor by 0.9 percentage points, or 1,754 votes, with 100 percent of precincts fully reporting, according to the New York Times.

However, the winner in the race had not been officially announced as news outlets described the results as “too close to call.”

See Trump’s tweet below, as well as Balderson’s speech on election night, which began shortly after Trump’s tweet, and comments from O’Connor.
