TRUMP TWEETS: Blasts out Twitterstorm over Roger Stone sentencing debacle

FEBRUARY 11, 2020

President Trump fired off a series of Twitter posts Tuesday night over the latest developments in the case against his former associate, Roger Stone.

Prosecutors recommended a stiff sentence of up to nine years in prison for Stone, in a filing on Monday.

President Trump condemned the recommendation late Monday night, tweeting, “This is a horrible and very unfair situation. The real crimes were on the other side, as nothing happens to them. Cannot allow this miscarriage of justice!”

Tuesday, Attorney General William Barr and his top aides intervened, saying that was entirely too stiff. Barr said the decision to intervene was already made before the president’s tweet.

After Barr intervened on Tuesday, all four prosecutors withdrew from the case in a rage, with one quitting the Justice Department entirely.

CBS News correspondent Catherine Herridge tweeted earlier Tuesday, “#RogerStone Senior DOJ official tells @CBSNews Department was shocked to see sentencing recommendation Stone case. This is not what was briefed to Dept. The Dept. believes recommendation is extreme, excessive, grossly disproportionate to offenses…#DEVELOPING.”

President Trump responded Tuesday evening, “All starting to unravel with the ridiculous 9 year sentence recommendation!”

Trump then seized on the judge involved in the Roger Stone case.

NBC contributer Katie Phang tweeted, “FYI: The judge presiding over this case, Amy Berman Jackson, is the same judge who had Manafort and Gates and van der Zwaan.”

The president responded, “Is this the Judge that put Paul Manafort in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT, something that not even mobster Al Capone had to endure? How did she treat Crooked Hillary Clinton? Just asking!”

Trump added in another tweet, “…And a swamp creature with “pull” was just sentenced to two months in jail for a similar thing that they want Stone to serve 9 years for. A phony Mueller Witch Hunt disgrace. Caught!”

President Trump then referred to former Democrat lobbyist Tony Podesta, who had been under investigation for violating foreign lobbying rules, and demanded to know why he got off the hook?

Tony Podesta’s brother, John Podesta, was Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign manager.

Trump tweeted:

Whatever happened to Hillary campaign manager Podesta’s BROTHER? Wasn’t he caught, forced to leave his firm, with BIG BAD things to happen? Why did nothing ever happen to him, only to the “other” side?

In another tweet, President Trump asked:

Who are the four prosecutors (Mueller people?) who cut and ran after being exposed for recommending a ridiculous 9 year prison sentence to a man that got caught up in an investigation that was illegal, the Mueller Scam, and shouldn’t ever even have started? 13 Angry Democrats?
