A scuttled White House proposal to release immigrant detainees in San Francisco and other sanctuary cities triggered a fierce backlash Friday from Democrats including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose office called the idea “despicable.”

The Washington Post first reported that the White House proposed sending the detainees to sanctuary cities, including Pelosi’s district, twice in the last six months. The proposal was first floated in November amid reports of a large migrant caravan from Central America making its way to the southern border. The idea was again considered in February, amid the standoff with Congress over a border wall.

The article goes on to state the following:

“The extent of this Administration’s cynicism and cruelty cannot be overstated,” Pelosi spokeswoman Ashley Etienne said in a statement Friday. “Using human beings—including little children—as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable, and in some cases, criminal.”

She added: “The American people have resoundingly rejected this Administration’s toxic anti-immigrant policies, and Democrats will continue to advance immigration policies that keep us safe and honor our values.”

Officials stressed that the plan never went anywhere.

Pelosi responded to a question about the report during a press briefing after Democrats wrapped up a three-day retreat in Virginia on Friday. Watch her comments below:

Great idea. Do it. Pelosi doesn’t care if they overrun my home state of Texas. I suggest the Border Patrol drops a thousand or so outside of her walled estate in San Francisco!

I think this is a great idea. We cannot handle nor do we want any more ILLEGAL IMMAGRANTS infiltrating our Boarders and breaking our laws. But if Congress will not act to change the immigration laws to stop this and if that same Congress believes SANCTUARY CITIES should be allowed to operate as they currently do then having all the illegals released into these sanctuary cities seems very logical. They believe it is their moral responsibility to take care of those that break our laws so have at it!! Best idea I have heard!! Not sure why Pelosi is so upset she believes in Sanctuary cities and approves illegal immigration and her district is a Sanctuary city so she should be thrilled!!

The fact that Pelosi reacted so swiftly and with such venom, is a clear signal that this is the right move. Trump has the executive power to do just that. Trump needs to flood these sanctuary cities with the crowd that hypocrites on the left purport to love and welcome. Let’s see their real colors. JUST DO IT!

  14. Quercus April 12th, 2019 at 5:51 pm

Same response that the fake environmentalists had when electric generating windmills were being proposed near their homes. These people support all of these “great” ideas, as long as it is not in their back yard or they don’t have to pay for it.
