POLL: Should the United States withdraw from the World Health Organization?

Concerns are growing among conservatives about the United States’ participation with the World Health Organization, and multiple lawmakers have called the organization a “puppet” for the Chinese Communist Party.

Fox News reported on Friday: Two Republican senators are calling on President Biden to remove the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO) over the agency’s “absymal lack of competence” throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

Sens. Steve Daines, R-Mont., and Tom Cotton, R-Ark., sent a letter, exclusively reviewed by Fox News Digital, to Biden Friday stating that the U.S. must leave the “corrupt and inept” organization, due to the agency’s failures during the coronavirus pandemic. WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health.

The senators take issue with the Biden administration’s plan to support amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) from Jan. 18, which they say would increase the WHO’s power at the expense of the U.S. and its allies.

“The WHO has demonstrated an abysmal lack of competence throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has destroyed the organization’s credibility and undermined the public’s confidence in it,” the senators wrote.

In April 2020, then-President Donald Trump announced the U.S. would suspend it’s funding of the W.H.O., and then declared a month later that he would be removing the U.S. from the organization, citing its misuse of funding and its close relationship with China.

“China has total control over the World Health Organization, despite only paying $40 million per year compared to what the United States has been paying, which is approximately $450 million a year,” Trump warned.

However, one of the first things Joe Biden did when he took over the Oval Office was to reverse the decision to withdraw from the W.H.O., and Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in February that the United States would pay the W.H.O. over $200 million in membership fees.

On his show Thursday night, Fox News host Tucker Carlson sounded the alarm, revealing that the Biden administration is allegedly considering a treaty with the World Health Organization, in which the global group will get to establish health guidelines for the United States, as well as control ‘medical misinformation.’
