Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins died Saturday morning after getting hit by a dump truck.

Haskins, 24, was reportedly in South Florida training with other Steelers quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers. He was apparently headed to the airport to return to Pittsburgh when the accident happened, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

The article goes on to state the following:

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Haskins was walking on I-595 westbound for unknown reasons, tried to cross lanes with oncoming traffic and was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“He was just walking on the highway and got hit,” FHP spokesperson Lt. Indiana Miranda told The Associated Press.

The reason for Haskins being on the highway was not revealed.

Earlier this week, Haskins posted an Instagram story of good times he was having in South Florida with Steelers running back Najee Harris and others.

The post ended it with a quote: “‘It is what it is’ will keep you at peace.”

In another Instagram post, Haskins shared a video of himself throwing a football and happily engaging with others about the practice pass.
