MANCHESTER, N.H. — Andrew Yang — the unknown businessman turned Democratic presidential candidate — is ending his presidential campaign.
But the candidate’s success might have been the biggest political surprise of 2019: Yang carried a message about individuals being more than economic metrics and evangelized a monthly payment to every American — otherwise known as universal-basic income — all the way to the Democratic debate stage.
The article goes on to state the following:
“That will be the most important legacy: If we accelerate the end of poverty in this country — which I believe we already have, because I don’t think this idea is going to go away,” he said in a phone interview on Tuesday, from the Puritan Conference Center in Manchester, where Yang held his election night rally.
“I am so proud of this campaign. Thank you to everyone who got us here,” Yang posted on Twitter Tuesday evening.
I am so proud of this campaign. Thank you to everyone who got us here. 🙏

Andrew Yang was a mix of emotions tonight — reflective, funny, self-deprecating
“There’s part of me that feels disappointed, like I didn’t fulfill people’s goals.”
“There’s also a competitive part of me too — like I can’t believe I lost to these people.” https://t.co/61PSHVkVwQ
