A U.S. Border Patrol agent in Arizona was found was found dead in his government vehicle overnight, marking the second death of an agent while on duty this calendar year.

“Last night, we lost one of our own, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Hotten. Agent Hotten was found unresponsive while on patrol in AZ. Agent Hotten, Class 910, served for 10 years in USBP. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, son, loved ones, and colleagues,” acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan announced in a Twitter post Monday afternoon.

The article goes on to state the following:

CBP, the parent agency of Border Patrol, has not specified how the agent died or if foul play played is suspected.

Acting Commissioner Mark Morgant tweeted Monday morning, “Last night, we lost one of our own, U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Hotten. Agent Hotten was found unresponsive while on patrol in AZ. Agent Hotten, Class 910, served for 10 years in USBP. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, son, loved ones, and colleagues.”

Washington Examiner reporter Anna Giaritelli tweeted, “CBP told me Tucson Sector Agent Robert Hotten, 44, was found unresponsive by fellow agents near Mount Washington, south of Patagonia, Arizona. He was medivac lifted to hospital. Had just had 10th anniversary as agent.”
