SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Authorities say nine people were killed Saturday afternoon after a plane crashed in South Dakota.
Peter Knudson with the National Transportation Safety Board said the Pilatus PC-12 had 12 people on board when it crashed at about 12:30 p.m., shortly after taking off from Chamberlain, about 140 miles west of Sioux Falls.
The article goes on to state the following:
Nine people were killed in the crash and three were injured. The plane was bound for Idaho Falls, Idaho, Knudson said.
Two children were reportedly among those killed in the crash, and the three survivors are all in critical condition. The area was under a winter storm warning at the time of the crash, the report states.
Of course it’s too early to determine a cause. The NTSB is investigating the crash. The flight was departing Chamberlain’s municipal airport and flying to Idaho. A plane matching that flight, according to FAA information is a private plane registered to an Idaho Falls businesss.
