POLL: Should there be a maximum age limit for US presidential candidates?
A growing number of voters from both sides of the aisle are suggesting there should be a maximum age limit on who is eligible to run for president.
Joe Biden was 78 years old when he was inaugurated as president in January 2021, making him the oldest president in U.S. history.
Former President Donald Trump, who was 70 years old at his inauguration, was the second oldest president. Soon after taking office, Trump took a cognitive test and passed it with flying colors.
However, Biden, well known for his embarrassing and awkward gaffes, has never been willing to take a cognitive test, but often appears confused, stumbles through speeches, and forgets names and other important details.
Biden has insisted that he plans to run for re-election in 2024. If he did, and won, he would be 82 years old by his second inauguration, and 86 by the time his second term in office ended.
A recent New York Times-Siena College poll showed that 64 percent of Democratic primary voters want someone other than Biden as the Democrat nominee in 2024. Among young Democratic voters ages 18 to 29, a whopping 94 percent said they want someone other than Biden as the 2024 nominee. Of the Democrats who don’t want Biden to run in 2024, a full 33% cited his age as the main reason.
“I’m just going to come out and say it: I want younger blood,” said a 38-year-old preschool teacher in Michigan. “I am so tired of all old people running our country. I don’t want someone knocking on death’s door.”
As President Biden insists he plans to run for a second term, his age has increasingly become an uncomfortable issue for him and his party. Polls show many Americans consider him too old, and some Democratic strategists do not think he should run again. https://t.co/OxncGGcbL4

On the other hand, Twitter user Techno Fog noted Biden’s mental decline in a blog post on Sunday, writing, “It’s not about his age. It’s about the onset of dementia. And it’s a threat to national security.”
President Biden struggles through press conferences.
His staff hides him at night, scared of “sundowning.”

Although he still hasn’t made an official announcement, former President Trump has given every indication that he plans to run again in 2024. If he won, he would be 78 when he is inaugurated in January 2025, and 82 when his term ended.
Fox News contributor Guy Benson recently suggested Republicans need a younger candidate who still supported Trump’s policies.

Billionaire Elon Musk said of Trump on Monday, “I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset.”
“Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69,” Musk suggested.
Musk has said multiple times that he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America. If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign,” Musk tweeted Monday evening.

“Many of the crises driving down Biden’s approval numbers are not his fault,” Michelle Goldberg writes. “Nevertheless, I hope he doesn’t run again, because he’s too old.” https://t.co/JV9Z1LEnsB

Law should be make to set age limit for presidents and prime ministers, Study shows that people above 60 age usually loose their mind and they have 60% less innovation and thinking power than a young person which results in bad decision making and problem solving 🙂 pic.twitter.com/uomZ7UMmNa

Ironically, the Biden administration is currently pushing back over a proposal to increase the retirement age mandate for pilots from 65 to 67:
