Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) issued a statement Monday after reports circulated over comments Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) made to her.

According to reports, Sanders told Warren during a 2018 meeting in which they discussed defeating Trump, Sanders said he did not believe a woman could win the election.

Sanders denied the allegation, saying, “It is ludicrous to believe” that he would tell Warren a woman couldn’t win,” adding that it’s sad that “staff who weren’t in the room are lying about what happened.”

Warren came out with her response and she backed the “lying staff.”

“Bernie and I met for more than two hours in December 2018 to discuss the 2020 election, our past work together, and our shared goals: beating Donald Trump, taking back our government from the wealthy and well-connected, and building an economy that works for everyone,” Warren said in a statement Monday.
